Road Trippin’
The new issue of 0-60 magazine has officially hit the stands, and with that, it’s time to share some photos from the road trip that I had briefly rambled about.
Nissan GT-R. BMW 135i. Eastern Seaboard. 1200(ish) miles. They didn’t need to say much else for me to fill in the calendar for that week. The gist of the trip was to take the two ‘cars of the year’ down the East coast, eventually into the South, stopping at what were once/abandoned race tracks. Pick up a copy of the issue to get the full story, as Mr. Mike Spinelli has his way with words much better than me. And with that, here’s are a handful of snaps from the trip. I’ll be posting up more images soon!
Brynfan Tyddyn – Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania. The race track sits today as it was in the 50′s, except now it’s on public roads.
Marlboro Motor Raceway – Upper Marlboro, Maryland. What you’re seeing in these two images are the remnants of an oval track and the grandstands.
North Wilkesboro Speedway – East Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Abandoned Nascar track, last used in 1996. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get the cars on the track. Just imagine the GT-R sitting pretty on winner’s circle!
Wilkesboro Raceway Park – Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Given the unfortunate turnout at the Nascar track, we decided to head over to the local drag strip for some good Southern fun : )
Augusta International Raceway – Hephzibah, Georgia. Apparently this place was deemed the “Nurburgring of America.” What’s left of the track now surrounds a sports complex, and is partially an access road for fishing at the lake.
And this is the BMW taking off back to New York.

Dude, the shots are excellent. I like the way it seems as if the imports are taking over US roads. It seems like I went back in time, I didnt. LOL Looks like the trip was well worth it. Looking forward to looking at some more.
this is a really awesome set. absolutely love the muted colours.
hey urm, i know this is a bit out of place for me to ask but er, i’d really appreciate it if you could teach me how it’s done?
